Seizure of the Synod’s Building and Funds
{Voronezh, February 6, 1918}
On February 11, a representative of the Commissariat of the Interior … appeared at the building of the Synod and demanded … the surrender of the building and all capital belonging to the Synod. The vice-director of the Synod … objected … but the representative of the Commissariat was supported by the junior clerks and messengers. The vice-director then announced that he submitted to force, led the representative of the Commissariat to the Synod treasury, and handed over forty-eight and one-half million rubles … The same day the offices of the former Minister of Religious Cults were seized.
